Description: DARK VELVET is spectacular! As well as her sire's size and colour, Velvet has inherited DON RICO's powerful movement - 3 good gaits with an outstanding trot. She is athletic yet light on her feet: an awesome dressage prospect.
About Velvet's sire: DON RICO, stands at stud at Centaur Riding School in Navan, Ontario. Don Rico was bred to be a dressage star.
Both his sire and dam-sire are dressage superstars: DON FREDERICO is presently being billed as Celle's New Shooting Star because of his "Breeding Value" (released by the German Equestrian Federation). This "breeding value" is an indicator for performance inheritability of a sire. The 2005 Breeding Value Index includes 2,738 dressage stallions, and Don Frederico came out on top.
Don Rico's dam-sire, HOHENSTEIN, is one of the most sought after sires available today. He is a gorgeous black stallion by the legend Caprimond.
Both DON FREDERICO and HOHENSTEIN came second in their stallion testing, and both won the dressage portion with extremely high marks. Both have had sons sell for upwards of 500,000 Euros. HOHENSTEIN is trained to Grand Prix dressage, and the younger DON FREDERICO is now competing at Intermediare 1.
Our Don Rico was born in Germany and imported to Canada by Hannover Imports. This young stallion’s training has been started, and he has shown himself to be very easy-going and rideable. With his imposing presence and exceptional movement Don Rico is sure to, in his own right, also excel in this discipline.
Don Rico is standing at stud at Centaur Riding School, Navan, Ontario. Since his first crop of foals in 2005, he has several more youngsters– big, correct, solid foals, inheriting their sire’s outstanding, ground-covering movement. All future dressage stars!

NOVEMBER 2008: Velvet is now going under saddle and looking for the right human partner... She is trusting and clam, and has been well-loved. Her training is right on target for her age: she willingly goes walk, trot and canter with no issues.
