AHORN

Sire: NIMMERDOR  Dam: M HYAZINTHE

Ahorn competed at top International level consistently placed in World Cups and Grand Prix competitions representing the Netherlands in Nations Cup competitions and was short-listed for the Barcelona Olympics, which earned him the prefix 'Olympic'.

The Preferent stallion Ahorn passed away much too early while he was one of the top producers of sporthorses both in Holland and abroad.
Approved in almost every studbook, he produced mare show champions like Haciende (Dutch Champion), Helena (European Champion), and Korenbloem (Reserve European Champion).
He also produced many international level jumpers such as Jeremy, Icamorka, Dublin, Iron, Ivor, V&L Channel, Ihorn, Gambit, Australia 2000, High Valley Z, Eurocommerce Geneve, High Five, Feizal, etc. These sporthorses will keep the name of Ahorn at the top of the lists in the future, but so will his approved sons Hattrick, Matterhorn and Ohorn.

AHORN , this "preferent "stallion is the sire of many International show jumpers, keur - and champion mares as well as approved stallions. His influence in breeding and in the sport is growing every day.

Ian Millar's Grand Prix jumper & 2004 Olympic mount, Promise Me's damsire is also Olympic Ahorn. This gelding was purchased in a partnership of 13 members, including Ian Millar, who says the gelding has 'Olympic scope'. Olympic Ahorn is also the sire of Feizal (Mario Deslauriers), Eurocommerce Geneve (10th at the 2003 World Cup Final) and Iron (represented Italy in the 2000 Olympics). Ahorn is also grandsire of Karolus K who is ridden by Melissa Brown.
A fantastic producer of broodmares, Ahorn is the sire of European Champion Mare Helena, reserve European Champion Korenbloem, Dutch Champion mare Haciende who was also Champion at the 1997 stallion show in Den Bosch, Firette who was a five times UTV qualifier and Geminka keur who is the dam of Dutch dressage star Kelvin. At the 1996 World Championships for young horses at Lanaken Ahorn was the only KWPN stallion to have two progeny placed, Icamorka and Iron. He is also the sire of Neckar, the top priced horse at the 1998 Equilibra Challenge auction who sold for high price as a three year old. As well as top competition horses he has produced eight graded sons.

Nimmerdor, Ahorn’s sire, was elected 'the stallion of the 20th century' in the Netherlands. He also competed successfully in World Cups, Grand Prix and forfeited his place at the Olympics in order to fulfill his stud requirements. Nimmerdor produced over 50 approved stallions and over 60 progeny who have competed at international level in sport. He is approved by almost every sport horse and warmblood breed society and has been awarded preferant status by the KWPN (the highest possible award for stallion recognition). Farn has also produced many top horses and is the damsire of Geoff Billington's famous gelding Virtual Village It's Otto.
When the famous Dutch breeder, Weipke van de Lageweg found the Ladykiller mare, Hyazinthe, he secured a veritable gold mine. The tall elegant mare produced four approved stallions and three International show jumpers.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Dutch Breeding, Ahorn, whose progeny have earned over $1,000,000 in prize money, has been awarded keur status by the KWPN.

Ahorn was granted ‘Preferent’ status in 2001 and is the sire of ten approved stallion sons including the sensational AK High Valley Z, ridden by Jos Lansink to win three out of the last four Sires of the World titles, High Valley’s full-brother, Noble Boy, Furore, Ohorn and Hattrick. Ahorn now has four approved grandsons, including Kelvin (by Flemmingh).

Ahorn offspring are very sought after and his frozen semen is very hard to come by since his death.
